In Baden-Württemberg, there are over 400 cold cases whose files eventually end up in the police archives. One of these cold cases took place in 1985 in the picturesque city of Konstanz, the jewel of Lake Constance. On 11 November 1985, 22-year-old student Christa Teubner was found dead in her flat in the student hall of residence on Jacob-Burckhardt-Straße. She had been stabbed to death in an extremely brutal manner, suffering 24 stab wounds. Christa had been to the cinema that evening and had returned to her flat at around 10.30 pm. According to witnesses, Christa had been visited by an unknown man, almost 2.00 metres tall, whose identity could never be established. Strangely, the only item missing from her room was a toy model aeroplane. Had Christa been secretly involved in a relationship, and had the murderer taken the toy aeroplane as a souvenir of their time together? Despite the fact that the investigation was in full swing, the investigators were completely in the dark as to who had so brutally murdered Christa Teubner. To this day, Christa Teubner’s killer has not been caught, and the likelihood of finding the perpetrator after such a long time decreases with every passing year. The only ray of hope is that there is no statute of limitations for murder in Germany.
